ARKIS Elementary School provided a totally new and out-of-the-box experience for its students where they lived one of their happiest moments in the sands of Al Sharqiya, Oman in collaboration with Outward Bound. They were able to contemplate a simple grain of sand and admire the marvels of creation. The trip was planned in line with the school’s Core values of Internationalism, Service, Respect for persons and the environment, and Integrity.

This five days and four nights trip tested their endurance levels in various hiking experiences of the desert both during the day and night. It got them closer to the flora and fauna of the desert landscape, encouraging them to think of ways of protecting and taking care of them. Spending the nights in makeshift tents certified that ARKIS students are ever ready to adapt themselves to any situation and face any challenge that comes their way.

The base camp activities helped build their logical thinking and team spirit too. They understood the importance of planning ahead and giving clear instructions to the team in order to succeed. This camp experience enhanced the appreciation of the little things their parents and people at home, school, and community do for them.

ARKIS Elementary School would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to all parents and teachers who helped make this first-of-its-kind trip for its students a successful one.
